Grief is a storm that touches every part of life. When you lose someone so deeply loved, it can feel like your world has shattered into pieces too broken to mend. If you’re reading this, you might still be standing in the middle of that storm, searching for a way to move forward. Let me assure you—you’re not alone, and there is hope, even in the darkest moments.
When I faced the loss of my spouse, I found myself asking, How do I keep going? The answer didn’t come all at once. It wasn’t wrapped in a quick fix or easy solution. It came, slowly but surely, through small steps, faith-filled prayers, and the grace to take one day at a time.
Here’s what I’ve learned about finding strength in the storm:
1. Allow Yourself to Feel
It’s okay to feel every emotion—sadness, anger, confusion, and even moments of joy. Grief isn’t linear, and healing isn’t about ignoring the pain. It’s about facing it, processing it, and trusting that the waves won’t always crash so hard.
2. Lean on Your Faith
For me, faith was an anchor when the storm felt unbearable. Turning to God in prayer, reading scripture, and leaning into His promises reminded me that I wasn’t walking this path alone. Scriptures like Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,” became my lifeline.
3. Find Your Community
Grief can be isolating, but healing often comes through connection. Whether it’s a support group, a close friend, or even an online community like this one, don’t hesitate to lean on others. Sharing your story can bring light to someone else and help you feel less alone.
4. Take Small Steps Forward
Rebuilding your life doesn’t happen overnight. It’s in the small, consistent steps that transformation happens. Whether it’s journaling, pursuing a hobby, or setting a simple goal, each step forward is progress worth celebrating.
5. Embrace Your New Season
Loss doesn’t erase the love and memories you carry, but it does create space for a new chapter. Embrace the idea that your journey isn’t over. You still have purpose, and there are still beautiful moments waiting to unfold.
You are stronger than you think, and you have everything within you to weather this storm. Even when it feels like you’re standing in the middle of chaos, remember that storms don’t last forever. The sun will shine again.
You are not just surviving—you are learning to thrive.
With love, encouragement, and prayers,
Coach Kathy
